Chipping in for Parkinson's
About Us
Chipping In for Parkinson’s is more than just a golf tournament—it’s a movement of hope, determination, and community. Founded by Jim Peters and his daughter, Rebecca Enns, Chipping In for Parkinson’s was created to support Parkinson Canada and make a meaningful impact in the lives of those affected by Parkinson’s disease.
Jim was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2009, but he refuses to let the disease define him. His passion for sports and desire to find a cure led him and Rebecca to organize the first Chipping In for Parkinson’s tournament in 2015. What started as a small vision quickly grew into a powerful initiative, with over 90 golfers coming together in its inaugural year to raise an incredible $12,000.

A Tournament with a Purpose
Chipping In for Parkinson’s is a best-ball, 9-hole shotgun tournament designed to be inclusive and family-friendly. Whether you’re an avid golfer or new to the sport, this event welcomes players of all skill levels, including those living with Parkinson’s. Our goal is simple: to bring people together, raise funds for research and support services, and have a great time doing it.
Sponsorships help cover the cost of the tournament, including dinner and prizes for our golfers. Participants register in teams and compete—not just on the course, but in fundraising as well. Teams that raise over $500 are entered to win a grand prize. The bulk of our donations come from pledges collected by our golfers, with any surplus sponsorship funds also being donated to Parkinson Canada.
Building Community, Raising Awareness
For Jim and Rebecca, this event is personal. Jim’s dream is to see a cure for Parkinson’s, ensuring that future generations won’t have to endure the challenges of the disease. The tournament also offers an opportunity to connect with others whose lives have been touched by Parkinson’s, creating a strong and supportive community.
From a small idea to a growing tradition, Chipping In for Parkinson’s continues to gain momentum. This year, we aim to welcome 140 golfers and raise at least $13,000 for Parkinson Canada.
